Review of Dishonoured
Holy moly!! What an unimaginable beginning to the story. The author Jem Tugwell took me to the highest point of Dan’s life, then dropped me like a hot potato, revealing his lowest. What a beginning!! Scarily realistic and absolutely adrenaline filled.
My emotions, oh my emotions, they were in my throat, hitched. Fear, apprehension, worry for the protagonist coursed through me like a molten lava. My brain stopped working, imagining the circumstances, I wondered how his did. Hot and cold was what I felt while reading the story. Jem Tugwell really threw his protagonist into the deep end. Would he sink or swim?
With different POVs, it was Dan who was my beacon in the murky pathways of a Dishonoured life, though he did team up with unlikely partners to get to the center of web of deceits. Short, snappy chapters with a in-the-moment writing, giving me the twists and turns of his life, made this a fast read. Totally hooked to my kindle.
Tension and suspense permeated the book where the author kept me on tenderhooks, and the last few chapters had to be read while walking. I was just too stressed. And when the curtains were raised on the main plotter, I had to lift my jaw off the floor. If I thought the beginning was rocking, the ending completely blew me out the literary stratosphere. I stopped breathing!!
Who would have thought the author could be so brilliantly wicked!! My first book by this author, it was simply the best thriller-y ride. Be still, my heart!!
